Udiliv 150 is a medication used to manage and treat cholestatic liver disease. It contains the active ingredient Ursodeoxycholic acid, also known as ursodiol, effective in treating liver disorders. Before discovering its effectiveness in dissolving gallstones, it was primarily used as a liver tonic. Today, much evidence suggests that Ursodeoxycholic acid is beneficial in various types of liver pathology.
In the treatment of Gallbladder stones:
Udiliv helps decrease the amount of cholesterol produced by your liver. It effectively breaks down cholesterol that has formed into stones in the gallbladder. It may take up to several months to dissolve the stone, so it is important to take medicine regularly as prescribed by your doctor. Â
In the treatment of primary biliary cirrhosis:
Ursodeoxycholic acid tablets commonly treat primary biliary cholangitis, also known as primary biliary cirrhosis. Primary biliary cholangitis is an immune-mediated cholestatic liver disorder characterized by the destruction of the bile ducts. The condition does not always have symptoms, but it can lead to liver failure over time. To treat this condition, Udiliv may be used alone or in combination with other medicines. This medicine help prevents or delays liver damage in most people, especially if you begin receiving the treatment early. Once you start the treatment, you will likely take it for the rest of your life. To make this medicine more effective, you can help yourself by keeping a healthy weight, stopping smoking, and limiting alcohol intake. Â Â Â
Take Udiliv with food. Depending on your medical condition, you are advised to take Ursodeoxycholic acid tablets for as long as your doctor has prescribed them. Swallow the tablet with a glass full of water. Take medicine regularly to get the maximum benefit. Keep taking medicine even if your symptoms appear.
Do not take Udiliv if you are allergic to any of its ingredients. You should avoid taking this medication if you have inflammation of the gall bladder and bile ducts, narrowing or blockage in bile ducts, improper constriction of the bladder, calcified gallstones, and gastric or duodenal ulcers. Â
Before taking Udiliv 150 mg tablets, tell your doctor if you have an inflammation of the gallbladder or bile ducts, you may experience cramp-like pain in your abdomen, you have been coughing up blood, or you are gaining weight rapidly. Using this medicine can reduce or increase the effect of some other medicines, so it is important to inform your doctor of all the medicines you are taking. Â Â Women should immediately stop taking hormonal contraceptive pills as they can increase the production of gallstones. During the treatment, your doctor may conduct an ultrasound, scan, or frequent blood tests to check your liver function.
The most common side effects of Udiliv 150 mg are diarrhoea, hair loss, abdominal pain, itching, rash, and nausea. Not everyone who takes Ursodeoxycholic acid tablets gets these side effects. If you are concerned about them, or they do not resolve within a few days, please inform your doctor.Â
