Tavin EM 300/200 mg is an oral treatment for the infection caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) leads to diseases like acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). A single tablet combines two anti-HIV medications- tenofovir disoproxil fumarate and emtricitabine. It is used in conjunction with other antiretroviral medicines to treat adults infected with HIV. This antiretroviral drug requires closer attention in patients with kidney and liver impairment.
Take this anti-HIV drug in the dose and duration suggested by your health specialist. The medicine is supplied as a tablet that must be taken with water and swallowed without chewing or crushing. Generally, it is taken once daily, preferably at the same time each day. Patients with renal impairment have a creatinine clearance of 30 to 49 ml/mint. Their health care specialists may ask them to take one pill every 48 hours.
Patients taking Tavin EM may experience worsening symptoms during the first few weeks of the treatment. Due to the potential toxicity of this antiviral drug, everyone taking Tavin EM have their kidney functions regularly monitored. A blood check-up is also necessary while receiving the treatment at regular intervals. This is to get the assurance of controlled HIV viral load. Moreover, sudden discontinuation has been linked to hepatitis flare-ups in individuals infected with hepatitis B. When used for an extended period, this anti-HIV treatment has been known to cause physical changes such as redistribution of body fat and weakened bone structure. In such a case, talk to your health care specialist. Taking Tavin EM with other medications such as ganciclovir, valacyclovir, cidofovir, and valganciclovir may increase the patient’s risk of kidney problems. Using your anti-HIV drug with the didanosine drug can worsen the side effects of didanosine.
The most widely reported side effects associated with the use of Tavin EM are vomiting, headache, nausea, diarrhoea, and rash. Other less common side effects of the drug include abdominal pain, flatulence, anorexia, lactic acidosis, hepatotoxicity, and discolouration of palms and soles. The side effects of Emtricitabine and Tenofovir are mild to moderate. Inform your health care specialist if you feel any changes in your health or a persistent health issue affecting you for more than one week.
