Salicylix 6% (50gm) (also known as Salicylic Acid Ointment 6%) is used on the skin to treat psoriasis and other dry, scaly skin conditions. This medication is also used to help remove dead skin from warts, the palms of the hands, and the soles of the feet. It causes the skin to shed dead cells from the top layer of the area where it is applied. Salicylic acid is the main active pharmaceutical ingredient present in Salicylix 6% (50 gm) Ointment. The cream is a topical salicylate, used to treat various skin conditions like hard skin, psoriasis, scaly skin conditions and some fungal nail infections. It is applied to the affected skin area; this topical ointment cream treats mild to moderate acne. Salicylic acid is an anti-inflammatory action and is a key ingredient in many skincare products. It allows the epidermal cells to slough off, which dissolves warts, dark spots, and pigmentation. Topical formulation clogged follicles and reduced acne formation. It resolves psoriatic lesions either alone or in combination with other topical agents and re-establish normal skin growth.                                                               Â
Avoid contact with broken or inflamed skin. Do not apply other medicines to the same area of skin at the same time. The topical medication is suitable for adults, the elderly and children unless otherwise directed by the dermatologist. It is advised to apply the formulation to the affected area twice daily. If you accidentally swallow some of the medication, see a dermatologist straight away. Apply the medication on clean and dry skin. Apply a thin film of medication to the affected area once daily at bedtime. Cover the treated area loosely if directed by your doctor. When you wake up the next morning, gently wash off the medication with mild soap/cleanser. Be sure to wash your hands after application; avoid using this medication to treat psoriatic lesions on your hand.
Remember that Salicylic acid formulation cannot be used by patients who are allergic to it. Salicylix 6% (50gm) is not suitable for patients with sunburn, eczema, or high blood lipid levels. Use it with caution in elderly patients; older adults may be more sensitive to the side effects of this drug. This medicine is intended for topical use only, not to be taken orally. If you have been reported any allergic reaction in the past with any food, dyes, or medicines, then consult your dermatologist before applying this medication. Avoid wrapping of the affected area. Wash your hands properly before using the medication. Avoid applying this medication to normal skin.
