A rotahaler is an inhalation device breathed activated, which means that when you inhale, the rotahaler releases medicine from the rotacaps. Rotacaps are capsules of powdered medication which is kept in a rotahaler device. Inhaled techniques deliver medication directly to the airway, which is particularly effective at treating respiratory illnesses (asthma or obstructive pulmonary disease).
Remove the rotahaler from the container. Check the device's mouthpiece for foreign objects. Keeping the device upright, take a rotacap in the rotacap chamber. When inhaling the medication, gently breathe out, seal your lips around the device's mouthpiece, and breathe in through your mouth as quickly and deeply as possible. Hold your breath for up to ten seconds. Start normal breathing. After each use, pull the two halves of the device apart and throw away the loose capsule shell. Reassemble the device again. Repeat all the steps when more than one rotacap is prescribed.    Â
You must clean the rota haler once every two weeks or sooner if required. Regular cleaning will prevent the accumulation of powder inside the rota haler. Please contact your doctor if you have any doubts about using the device.
