Retino A cream .025% (20gm) contains the active ingredient tretinoin in the form of cream. Dermatologists prescribe this topical preparation as an adjunctive agent to reduce fine lines, hyperpigmentation, and tactile roughness of facial skin in patients who follow comprehensive skin care and sunlight avoidance programs. The topical formulation does not eliminate wrinkles, repair sun-damaged skin, reverse photoaging, restore youthful skin. It should be used under medical supervision in combination with sun avoidance programs that include effective sunscreens and protective clothing to reduce fine lines, hyperpigmentation, and roughness of facial skin.
When you use this Tretinoin preparation, you will not see an improvement straight away. In general, some may notice some effects in 3 to 4 months. If the topical treatment is stopped, the improvement may gradually disappear. The use of retinoid preparation in patients for more than 52 weeks has not been studied in clinical trials. Therefore, it is not still unknown if the medication is safe to use longer than 52 weeks.
Tretinoin is the main active pharmaceutical ingredient present in Retino A 0.025% (20 gm) Cream. It is a topical cream that belongs to the class of Retinoids. It is a vitamin A derivative that treats mild to moderate acne. It works by increasing the turnover rate of cells that helps in preventing new pimples.
Retino A is available in the form of a cream to be applied topically on the skin surface. Apply enough cream to cover an infected area of the skin and rub it well. For better results, wash and clean the affected area with soap and water before applying this cream. Use this drug as directed by your doctor. The tretinoin formulation is usually applied to the face once daily in the evening. Follow these steps:
- Gently wash your face with a mild soap
- Pat the skin dry and wait for at least 20 to 30 minutes before applying the topical formulation
- Squeeze a small amount of preparation on your fingertips and apply evenly all over your infected face.
Do not use Retino A cream 0.025% if you are sunburned or your skin is irritated, highly sensitive to sunlight, or allergic to the active ingredient tretinoin. Ask your doctor about the inactive ingredients of the formulation. The cream may cause increased skin irritation and an increased chance of sunburn. Let your doctor know if you have any serious skin conditions; tretinoin formulation is not right for you. Because the topical preparation may make you more likely to experience a burning sensation in the presence of sunlight, let your doctor know if you are using other medicinal products that increase sensitivity to sunlight. You should not use a retinoid formulation with medicines such as thiazides, sulfonamides, tetracyclines, fluoroquinolones, and phenothiazines. If you are taking any prescription or non-prescription medicines, check with your doctor to make sure you can apply Retino A cream with them.
Stinging sensation may occur immediately after applying the topical medication. Dryness, skin redness, itching, scaling, mild burning, or worsening of acne may occur during the initial days of the treatment.
