Ramistar 10 mg is a prescription treatment for high blood pressure and heart attack. It contains Ramipril, which belongs to the class of ACE inhibitors (angiotensin-converting enzyme) and is one of the most popular drugs in treating heart failure and hypertension. ACE inhibitors are the drugs that inhibit the action of the Angiotensin-converting enzyme in the body. Angiotensin II causes constriction of blood vessels and increases blood pressure. This way, ACE inhibitors relax the blood vessels and decreases elevated blood pressure.
You may take Ramistar 10 mg under medical supervision. The cardiovascular drug is not recommended for children, diabetic patients, and serious heart conditions. You may take it twice daily after having meals. In general, the dosage is based on the patient’s medical condition and their response to the treatment. To reduce the risk of side effects, your doctor may advise you to start the treatment at the lowest dose, and dose adjustment occurs as per the patient’s condition. Â
Ramistar 10 mg can pass into breast milk and may cause harm to the fatal damage. Avoid drinking alcohol as it increases the side effects of Ramipril. Avoid the intake of salt or potassium substitutes while taking this medicine. Always ask a doctor first. This drug causes a bit of dizziness, so be careful while sitting or lying somewhere. Excess sweating, diarrhea and vomiting can cause dehydration. So, compensate for the fluid loss by drinking lots of fluid. Older people are more sensitive to the side effects of the drug.
You should not take Ramistar 10 mg if you:
- Have an allergy to the active ingredient Ramipril
- Have heart diseases
- Have kidney disease
- Have liver disease
- Are taking Telmisartan
- Are suffering from connective tissue diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and scleroderma
- Have diabetes
- Are you pregnant or planning to become pregnant
- Are breastfeeding

The most common side effects of Ramistar 10 mg are heart failure and left ventricular dysfunction following a heart failure. The symptoms include fatigue, hypotension, diarrhea, and dizziness. Some patients receiving this heart medication may also experience hypertension. Dizziness is the initial symptom. Inform your doctor straight away if you experience serious side effects such as slow heartbeat, severe dizziness, fainting, mood changes, seizures, numbness of hands and feet, unusual weakness, signs of kidney problems. Even though a serious allergic reaction is rare, ask your doctor if you notice any sins of a serious allergic reaction. The symptoms of a serious allergy include breathing difficulties, severe rash or hives.
