Proscar 5 mg is a medication used for the treatment of enlarged prostate that cause problems with passing urine. It helps to relieve symptoms that are experienced with prostate gland enlargement including difficulty starting urination, dribbling urine, taking longer in the toilet, and feeling that your bladder is still not empty. BPH commonly affects men with an age of 50 years. In some men, the condition may result in serious health complications such as urinary tract infections and the sudden inability to pass urine. BPH may lead to the need for surgery to improve the urine flow in the affected man. The symptoms of BPH take a long time to develop because the prostate gland takes years to grow. Proscar 5 mg tablet containing Finasteride helps to reduce the risk of acute urinary retention or an inability to pass urine as well as the need for surgery.

Proscar 5 mg is used for the treatment of a medical condition called benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in men with an enlarged prostate to cause regression of the enlarged prostate, improve the flow of urine, and other symptoms associated with the condition. It is helpful in reducing the incidence of acute urinary retention as well as the need for surgery, which includes prostatectomy and transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP).
Proscar 5 mg is developed for treatment of BPH, a condition where the prostate gland of a man has become bigger making it more difficult for a man to pass urine. This can lead to the following symptoms:

The active ingredient present in Proscar 5 mg is Finasteride, which reduces the amount of dihydrotestosterone responsible for making the prostate enlarge. A reduction in dihydrotestosterone in the prostate causes it to shrink which make urination easy for you.
Inform your physician as soon as possible if you don’t feel well while taking Proscar. The medicine Proscar 5 mg helps most men suffering from BPH, but it may have unwanted side effects. Tell your physician if you notice erectile dysfunction (inability to have an erection), decreased sexual desire that continues even after stopping Proscar 5 mg, problems with ejaculation. Also, inform your physician if you notice breast lumps, breast tenderness, skin rash, testicle pain, hives, and depression.
