Pramipex 0.5 mg can be used alone or in combination with other medicines to treat Parkinson's disease. It controls Parkinson's symptoms such as trouble with muscle control movement and balance. The medicine contains the active ingredient Pramipexole, which improves your ability to move and decrease shakiness, stiffness, slowed movement, and instability. The medicine has not been studied in children.
The exact dose of Pramipexole people can be different. Your doctor will decide the dose you need to take each day. For best results, it is important to follow your doctor's instructions. When you initiate the treatment, your doctor will gradually increase the dose as per your condition.
Take a Pramipex tablet once daily, before or after consuming food. Swallow the tablet without chewing, crushing, or breaking the tablet. If you take more tablets than your doctor recommends, call your doctor straight away or visit the nearest emergency health care room. If you miss a dose, do not double up doses. Skip the missed dose; if it is almost time to take the next dose, skip the dose you missed and go back to your dosing regimen. Do not stop taking Pramipexole without your doctor's approval. Do not drink alcohol while receiving the anti-Parkinson's drug. It can increase your chance of having serious health complications.
Your doctor will decide whether the medicine is suitable for you or not or whether you need close monitoring of your symptoms while receiving the treatment. Tell your doctor if your family notice unusual behaviour or you cannot resist the drive to carry out certain activities and could harm yourself or others. The condition is often referred to as impulse control disorders and can include excessive eating, gambling, an abnormally high sex drive, or increased sexual thoughts.
After stopping the medicine, tell your doctor if you experience anxiety, sweating, fatigue, depression after stopping or reducing Ropinirole dosage. If the problem persists for more than a few weeks, your doctor may need to adjust your doses.
Ropinirole may make you dizzy; it can make you feel extremely sleepy and sometimes make you fall asleep very suddenly. Therefore, it is important to avoid driving or indulge in activities that require your full attention.
The most common side effects of Pramipex 0.5 mg for early Parkinson's disease are constipation, dizziness, dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, fatigue swelling of the feet and ankles. The most common side effects in people taking Pramipexole who have later-stage Parkinson's disease are constipation, nausea, headache, and weight loss. The antiparkinsonian drug may cause serious side effects as well. Rarely a patient falls asleep during normal activities. You may experience a sudden drop in blood pressure when you sit or stand up quickly.
