Pivasta 4 mg tablet belongs to a class of drugs best known as statins. Pitavastatin is the active ingredient present in Pivasta. This drug is mainly used to lower cholesterol and the risk of heart disease in the body. Cholesterol is a substance that builds up in blood vessels and causes narrowing.
Pitavastatin is given to administer the level of cholesterol in the body, reducing the production of fatty substances. Pivasta blocks HMG-CoA-reductase (an enzyme) that makes cholesterol. The medicine effectively lowers LDL (“bad” cholesterol and triglycerides) while improving HDL (“good” cholesterol). High cholesterol increases the chances of heart disease.
Pivasta is generally considered a safe medicine for long-term use. The doctor will determine the correct dose after thoroughly examining you and understanding your condition's severity.
It is good to take the drug at the same time each day. It can be taken with or without mean. If you take this medicine empty stomach and suffer from stomach upset, you can switch to taking it after meals. Following the workout and diet plan as determined by your doctor is essential. Continue the treatment even if you feel well, as discontinuation may worsen your condition and increase the risk of heart disease.
Keep your cholesterol level frequently checked to monitor your progress. A healthy diet, regular exercise, moderate alcohol intake, avoiding smoking and eating food high in fat are some precautions to follow to experience desired results.
The medicine is contraindicated in people who have an allergy to the ingredients.
