Ondem MD-4 mg is an anti-nausea medicine with the main ingredient, Ondansetron. It prevents and treats vomiting and sickness associated with chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery. It is available as an orally disintegrated tablet, which means it disintegrates in the mouth within seconds without needing water or any liquid. This dosage form is generally designed to improve the patient’s compliance with those who had trouble swallowing the tablet, such as the elderly, children, or bedridden patients. Speak to your healthcare provider for further information about Ondem MD-8 mg uses.

How to use Ondansetron tablet?

Stick to the dosing regimen your healthcare provider prescribes. The dose you are prescribed usually depends on the treatment you are receiving.

For the prevention of nausea and vomiting from chemotherapy or radiotherapy, the dose given on the day of chemotherapy or radiotherapy is 8 mg, taken one to two hours before therapy and another 8 mg twelve hours after. The treatment is followed by the usual adult dose of 8 mg twice daily. This may be given for up to five days.

The healthcare specialist will decide the dose depending on the child’s body weight to treat children aged over six months and adolescents. The usual recommended dose is up to 4 mg twice daily, and this treatment can be continued for up to five days.

For the prevention of nausea and vomiting after an operation, the recommended dose is 16 mg before undergoing surgery. For children aged over a month and adolescents, this antiemetic medicine should be given as an injection.

For patients with liver problems, the total dose should not exceed 8 mg. Generally, the medication should begin to work within one or two hours of being taken.

If you get sick or vomit within sixty minutes of taking a dose, take the same dose again; otherwise, do not take more Ondem MD 8 mg tablets.

The medicine should begin working within one or two hours of taking the dose.

Do not discontinue treatment, even if you are feeling well, without discussing it with your healthcare provider.
