Olmezest H 40/12.5 mg is available for oral administration in tablets containing 40 mg of Olmesartan and 12.5 mg of hydrochlorothiazide. It is a combination of Olmesartan, an angiotensin II receptor antagonist, and a hydrochlorothiazide, a thiazide diuretic. The combination of drugs lowers high blood pressure in adults. However, it does not cure high blood pressure. It helps to control the condition. Therefore, it is important to continue taking Olmesartan/HCTZ regularly, even if you feel better.Â
Take Olmezest/HCTZÂ exactly as your doctor has prescribed. It is recommended to take your dose every day as instructed by your doctor. The recommended starting dose of Olmezest HCT is 40/12.5 mg once daily in patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with Olmesartan monotherapy. The dose can be increased if necessary. The medicine may be taken before or after consuming food. If Olmezest H causes an upset stomach, take it with food or milk. Â
Do not take Olmezest H if you are allergic to Olmesartan, hydrochlorothiazide, or other ingredients. Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to any sulfa drugs. Olmesartan/hydrochlorothiazide is strictly prohibited in case you have an allergic reaction with swelling of the hands, feet or ankles, face, lips, tongue, throat, or sudden breathing issues. Those with difficulty urinating or who produce no urine should not take this antihypertensive agent. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should strictly be advised to take the drug only when the potential benefits exceed the risk. Carefully follow the instructions when it comes to taking this antihypertensive drug.
Olmesartan/HCTZ can cause severe chronic diarrhoea with substantial weight loss. It can take several months to years for symptoms to develop before you perform tasks that may require your complete attention; wait until you respond to Olmezest-H. The antihypertensive drug may cause dizziness or fainting, especially after the first dose when the dose is increased. Â
Certain medications may interact with Olmezest H. These include sleeping pills, narcotics, antifungal medicines, antidepressants, antidiabetic agents, cholesterol-lowering drugs, and anticancer medications. Also, let your doctor know of any natural supplements, vitamins, and minerals you already have been using or have just started with Olmezest- H. Â Â
Side effects of Olmezest H include:Â
 — Back or leg pain, muscle cramps, spasms, weakness, restlessness, and pain
 — Upper respiratory tract infections
 — Constipation, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, vomiting
 — Drowsiness, fatigue, insomnia
 — Headache, dizziness, pins and needles in your fingers
 — Reduced libido
 — Bleeding under the skin, rashes, and red patches on the skin

If any of these side effects become troublesome, tell your doctor. The combination of medications can cause abnormal blood test results. Your doctor will decide when to conduct blood tests and interfere with the results.Â
Stop taking medicine and seek immediate medical help if you develop hypoglycemia (very low pressure). The symptoms include fainting, dizziness, and lightheadedness. These may occur when you go from lying or sitting to standing up. Â Â Â
