Olmezest-H is a prescription medicine for patients with hypertension (high blood pressure). It is a combination of Olmesartan and Hydrochlorothiazide. Â
 — Olmesartan - It is an angiotensin receptor blocker. You can recognize this medicine as an antihypertensive agent as it ends in “SARTAN”. It lowers elevated blood pressure.

 — Hydrochlorothiazide - It is a diuretic or water pill that increases urination. This helps lower blood pressure.
Olmezest does not cure high blood pressure. It helps to control blood pressure. Therefore, it is important to take this combination of medicine regularly, even if you feel fine. Â

Take Olmezest H exactly as prescribed by your doctor. It is best to take the dose at the same time each day. The medicine comes as tablets for oral administration. It can be taken with or without food. The combination of Olmesartan and hydrochlorothiazide cause an upset stomach; take it with food or milk to avoid stomach disturbances. The usual recommended dose is one tablet daily. If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact your doctor, even if there are no symptoms. Do not miss the dose; if you do and forget to take your next dose during the day, carry on with the next scheduled dose. Â Â
Do not Olmezest-H if any of the following applies to you are:
 — Allergic to olmesartan or hydrochlorothiazide or any of the ingredients in the medicine.
 — Allergic to sulfa drugs
 — Have a problem urinating
 — Have experienced an allergic reaction with swelling of lips/throat, tongue, face, lips, sudden breathing, or swallowing issues
 — Pregnant or think you have become pregnant. Taking this combination of medicine during pregnancy can cause injury and even death to the fetus
 — While breastfeeding, Olmezest H may pass into breast milk
 — Taking an antihypertensive agent that contains aliskiren, and you have diabetes mellitus or kidney disorder

Also, let your doctor know if you are on a low salt diet or are less than 18 years old.
Certain medications can interact with Olmesartan and hydrochlorothiazide. These include sleeping pills, strong pain medications, antifungal agents, antidiabetics, cholesterol-lowering drugs, antidepressants, anticancer medications, heart medicines, antiepileptic drugs, gout medications, NSAIDs, anaesthetics, and other blood pressure-lowering medicines. Â Â
Side effects may include: Â
 — Dizziness, pins, and needles in your finger
 — Upper respiratory tract infections, cough
 — Nausea, vomiting, Constipation, diarrhoea
 — Fatigue, drowsiness, insomnia
 — Reduced libido
 — Bleeding under the skin, red patches, rash on the skin
 — Decreased appetite, upset stomach, enlargement of glands in your mouth
 — Headache
Olmezest H can cause severe chronic diarrhoea with substantial weight loss. It can take up to months to years for the symptoms to develop. The combination of medications can cause abnormal blood test results. Your doctor will decide when to conduct blood tests and interpret the results.Â
