Nucoxia 120 contains the active substance Etoricoxib, which is one of a group of medicines called selective COX-2 inhibitors. These belong to a class of drugs known as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Nucoxia helps reduce the pain and swelling in the joints and muscles of people 16 years of age with osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, rheumatoid arthritis, and gout. It is also effective as a short-term treatment of moderate pain after dental surgery in people sixteen years of age and older.
Always take medicine as it is prescribed. Check with your doctor if you are unsure how and when to take medicine. Do not take more than the recommended daily dose for your condition. Your doctor will discuss your treatment regimen from time to time. You must use the lowest daily dose that controls your pain, and you should not take the Etoricoxib tablet for longer than necessary. This is because heart attack and strokes might increase after prolonged treatment, especially with high doses. Take the tablet with water once daily. You can take this medicine before or after consuming food. Nucoxia tends to work quickly when taken with food. Take the tablet without food if you need fast relief from the pain or swelling.
Your doctor may prescribe a low dose if you have mild to moderate liver disease. Please tell your doctor about your liver condition. Etoricoxib should be used in children under 16 years of age. Do not take Nucoxia 120 if any of the following applies to you: Â Â
- You are allergic to etoricoxib or any other ingredients of this medicine
- Are allergic to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), including COX-inhibitors and aspirin
- You have a current stomach ulcer or bleeding in your stomach
- You have liver disorders, kidney diseases,
- Are you pregnant or breastfeeding
- You have high blood pressure that the treatment has not controlled
- You have had a heart attack, peripheral arterial disease

Stomach pain is common with Nucoxia 120 mg. Other common side effects include dry socket, headache, dizziness, irregular heartbeat, busing, increased blood pressure, constipation, inflammation of the food pipe, indigestion, diarrhoea, feeling sick and stomach discomfort. If you develop any of the following symptoms, you should stop taking Nucoxia and immediately talk to your doctor or visit your nearest emergency centre.Â
    — An allergic reaction such as hives, itching, or swelling of the face/mouth/lips/tongue and throat, may cause difficulty breathing and swallowing.
    — Severe chest pain, shortness of breath, or blurred vision with ankle swallowing. These signs could indicate dangerously high blood pressure.
    — A serious skin condition with severe skin blisters and bleeding in the lips, nose, eyes, and mouth
    — An abnormally fast heartbeat
