Nodon 5mg contains Nebivolol, which belongs to a group of medicines known as selective beta-blocking agents. It helps to prevent increased heart rate and controls heart pumping strength. It also exerts a dilating action on blood vessels, which contributes to lowering blood pressure. Nebivolol treats patients with high blood pressure and mild to moderate chronic heart failure in adults. Â
Take medicine as per prescription. You should talk to your doctor if you have any doubts about the usage of the medicine Nodon 5 mg is available in the form of a tablet that should be swallowed with a glass full of water. You can take the tablet before or after consuming food. The tablet can be divided into equal halves or quarters if prescribed.
For adults, the recommended dose is one 5 mg tablet daily. The blood pressure-lowering effect will occur after 1 to 2 weeks of treatment. Occasionally, the optimum effect will be achieved only after four weeks. If you have kidney problems, the dose may be reduced to half, i.e. 2.5 mg (half a tablet). If required, your doctor will increase your daily dose to 5 mg. If you are over 65, the recommended starting dose is half a tablet daily. If required, the dose may be increased to 5 mg. Nebivolol is not recommended for children and adolescents below 18 years of age.
Your doctor will start your treatment for chronic heart failure with a quarter tablet a day. This may be increased after 1 to 2 weeks to half a tablet a day, then to one tablet per day, and then to two tablets a day until the correct dose is reached for you. The maximum recommended dose is two tablets a day. You should not discontinue treatment abruptly, as this can worsen your heart failure.Â
You should not take Nebivolol or any other ingredients of this medicine. Nodon 5 mg should be avoided in patients with liver problems, heart failure, heart rhythm disorders, asthma, high blood pressure, slow heart rate, or low blood pressure.
Pregnant or breastfeeding mothers should also speak to their doctors before taking it to determine whether the medicine is safe in your case. It is important to check your blood pressure regularly to ensure the medicine works properly. Do not consume alcohol, as it may increase the risk of side effects.
Nodon 5 mg can cause side effects like all medicines, although not everyone who takes this medicine gets them. Common side effects include tiredness, headache, diarrhoea, constipation, nausea, dizziness, constipation, shortness of breath, unusual itching/tingling, and swollen hands or feet.
Other uncommon side effects are low blood pressure, abnormal vision, cramp-like leg pain, impotence, feelings of depression, itching, rash, nightmares, indigestion, vomiting, gas in the stomach, and asthma. Â Â Â
