Naltrexone Hydrochloride is the main ingredient in Nodict 50 mg tablets; it is an opioid receptor antagonist used to treat alcohol and opioid dependence.
Nodict 50 mg prevents people addicted to certain drugs from taking them again. It is part of a complete drug abuse treatment program, which should include lifestyle changes, counselling, and family support. It works in the brain to prevent opiate effects. It also decreases the craving or desire to take opiates and helps you stay away from them. Excess ingestion of alcohol can cause serious harmful effects. This drug has shown promising effects by opposing opioid actions and decreasing the craving or desire to drink.
This medicine is also used to treat tobacco abuse.
The dose may vary according to the patient's condition; therefore, it is advised to take this medication as per your doctor’s direction.
Nodict 50 mg is available as a tablet and can be taken orally after a meal. Swallow a tablet as a whole and do not break, chew or crush it.
Take it daily at a fixed time to get the maximum benefits from this medicine. Do not stop the treatment in between until you finish the full course.
Remember that Naltrexone tablets cannot be consumed by patients allergic to the medicine and its ingredients.
  — If a patient is suffering from any liver and kidney problem, this drug is harmful to this condition, so avoid taking this drug.
  — If a patient suffers recently with excessive vomiting and/or diarrhea, this drug might worsen the condition; check with your doctor to know when to start the treatment.
  — This drug can cause liver damage if taken for a longer period.
  — Avoid consuming while taking this medication.

  — Use this drug with caution in elderly patients; older adults may be more sensitive to the side effects of this drug.

Contraindications
Naltrexone should not be used in patients:
  — Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients present in the formulation
  — Receiving opioid analgesics
  — Acute hepatitis or liver failure
  — Suffering from mental psychosis or personality disorder
  — Pregnant women and lactating mother
  — Depression problem
Tell your doctor if side effects such as low blood pressure, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, hives, itching, migraine, cough, shortness of breath, blurred vision, irregular heartbeat, liver inflammation, joint pain, hallucination, depression, shivering, goose bumps, metallic or garlic taste in mouth bother you or do not go away.
