Nicotex chewing gum is a quit-smoking gum aid. Nicotex belongs to a class of medications known as Nicotine replacement therapy (NRT). NRT is a treatment used so to support smokers to quit smoking; in this therapy, the nicotine present in cigarettes is substituted by supplying nicotine in reliable forms such as nicotine gum patches and lozenges. The first variety of NRT to become extensively available was chewing gum. Nicotex chewing gum is a sugar-free nicotine gum used to help smokers slowly get off nicotine. The therapy assists in reducing withdrawal symptoms associated with smoking cessation and is, therefore, effective at fighting the urge to smoke. Health issues caused by cigarette smoking are not primarily due to nicotine but rather due to the massive amount of carcinogens and toxins produced while burning and inhaling tobacco items.

Meanwhile, nicotine is a major component responsible for addiction to tobacco products. Hence, NRT has proven to be a beneficial treatment for tobacco dependence as it offers a medication with a promising risk-to-benefit ratio to replace the medication of abuse with nicotine medications. When chewed correctly and used regularly as prescribed, it supplies a steady stream of nicotine levels to the body through the lining of the mouth. This helps to reduce withdrawal symptoms that happen during the initial weeks of smoking. Use nicotine gum as required to manage breakthrough cravings and urges to use tobacco. Participating in behavioral counseling while using this drug will increase your chances of staying tobacco-free.

How to use Nicotine gum?

The nicotine resin complex is offered in a buffered chewing gum called Nicotex. This chewing gum facilitates nicotine to be directly absorbed by the buccal mucosa, which causes a plasma concentration of about half of that produced by smoking a cigarette. Treatment is generally started by using Nicotex 2 mg gum. For an extremely dependent smoker or someone who previously has been unable to quit smoking with 2 mg gums, 4 mg Nicotex gum is recommended. Or if you smoke your first cigarette within thirty minutes of waking up, you may be advised to start with a 4 mg dose. If you smoke your first cigarette more than thirty minutes after waking up, start with a 2 mg dose.

Upon quitting smoking, start using Nicotex gum on a regular schedule. Nicotine gum is used as chewing gum; hence, it is not meant to be swallowed. The mint flavor chewing gum may be used frequently initially, by chewing one piece every 1 to 2 hours for six weeks. It can then be followed up by chewing only one piece of gum every 2 to 4 hours for the next three weeks and then one piece every  4 to 8 hours for the next three weeks.

Do not chew Nicotex gum like bubble gum; bite down slowly a few times until you feel a slight tingling in your mouth. Chew until you can taste the nicotine or feel a tingle in your mouth. Park in between your cheeks. After about a minute, when the tingling almost disappears, chew it again. Repeat this process until the itch is gone (about 30 minutes). Do not bite too quickly on the gum or swallow the nicotine. This provides nicotine to the body through the lining of the mouth. You should not eat or drink fifteen minutes before and during use. Avoid acidic foods and drinks (like coffee, soda, and oranges). These can make the nicotine gum less effective. You may begin with up to 24 pieces of gum daily and then reduce over time. If you use tobacco while using this medication, don’t give up.

Continue to take Nicotex medicine and try not to use tobacco.  Also, pay attention to how many gums you use. Excessive usage may cause nervousness, nausea, insomnia, shakiness, dizziness, or headache. A dose that is too low may not have the potential to reduce withdrawal symptoms enough.

Nicotine 4 mg safety instructions

It is advised not to chew two gums at the same time. Using more than the prescribed chewing gums is unsafe, or unwanted effects may happen. Avoid chewing more than 24 pieces of 2 mg gum daily without supervision.

Speak to your healthcare provider before using the gum, especially if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have heart problems. Smoking can have a serious impact on your child. Try to stop smoking without using any nicotine replacement medicine. Nicotex gum is believed to be safer than smoking. However, the risks to your child from this medication are not fully known.

Common Nicotine side effects

Nicotine Nicotex 4 mg may cause mouth soreness, oral hiccups, nausea, vomiting, and jaw aches. Proper use of gum can help to avoid these side effects. Stop using the gum and contact your healthcare provider if you develop intolerable side effects.
