Momate lotion 0.1% 30 ml contains mometasone furoate for dermatologic use. Mometasone furoate is an artificial corticosteroid with anti-inflammatory properties. It is prescribed to relieve redness, itchiness, irritation, and inflammation caused by skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis, and rash. The topical product may be used in pediatric patients two years of age or older, although the safety and effectiveness of this drug for longer than three weeks have not been established. For pediatric patients, do not forget to call your doctor after 5 days of regular use of this lotion.
For the medicine to be most effective, hold the bottle's nozzle too close to the affected areas and gently squeeze to a small amount. Apply a few drops of Momate lotion to the affected areas once a day and massage lightly until it gets completely absorbed into the skin. Like any other corticosteroid, treatment should be stopped when full control is achieved. If a patient cannot see improvement within two weeks of regular usage, a reassessment of the diagnosis may be required. For best results, follow your dermatologist's advice. Â
Momate lotion is to be used as directed by your dermatologist. It is for topical use only. Avoid getting the medication into your eyes. This topical product should not be used for any condition other than the prescribed one. Ensure you do not cover, wrap or apply bandages to the treated skin area unless your dermatologist advises. Patients should report to their dermatologist any signs of local site adverse reactions.
Parents of children should be advised not to use Momate lotion for diaper rashes. This topical formulation should not be applied to the face, underarms, or groin areas unless your dermatologist instructs. As with other corticosteroids, treatment should be stopped when full control is achieved. Contact your dermatologist if no improvement is visible within 3-4 days. Other corticosteroid-containing medications should not be used with Mometasone furoate lotion without consulting your dermatologist. Momate lotion should not be used in those patients with a history of allergic reactions to any of the components in this formulation.
Since the safety and effectiveness of Momate lotion have not been established in children below twelve years of age, its use in this age group is recommended only if doctor prescribes it. If irritation develops, Momate lotion should be discontinued, and appropriate therapy should be introduced.Â
Side effects of Momate lotion include:
Skin sensations include strong itching, burning, tingling, inflammation of hair follicles, softening and thinning of the skin, and acne-like reactions. Rarely, you may experience dry skin, the appearance of boils, dermatitis, increased lesion size, abnormal redness, nausea, aggravated allergy, and aggravation of the disease.
In addition, some side effects that have been found to occur with the use of other topical corticosteroids include:
 — Unwanted hair, lightening of skin colour
 — Infections or signs of infection, irritation
 — Heat rash
 — Stretch marks
 — Dermatitis near or around the mouth, allergic contact dermatitisÂ
