Melalite XL is a combination of three medications prescribed to treat melasma. This skin condition causes brown patches on the face, particularly on the forehead, cheeks, upper lip, and chin. Melasma majorly affects women. Melalite XL reduces the appearance of these hyperpigmented areas, helping to improve skin tone in individuals with melasma. The skin condition may be caused by sun exposure, pregnancy, hormone therapy, thyroid, birth control pills, or even stress. It may affect pregnant women due to hormonal changes at the time of pregnancy and fades after pregnancy or after stopping the pregnancy pills. It can be treated using skin-lightening creams, topical steroids, and other techniques, including chemical peels. Melalite XL contains hydroquinone, a skin-lightening agent that reduces the amount of skin pigment (melanin). Skin pigment is responsible for darkening the skin. The second ingredient is mometasone, a corticosteroid that functions inside skin cells and stops the production of certain chemical messengers in the body that give rise to itching, redness, and swelling. Another ingredient, tretinoin, is a retinoid that induces skin cell turnover and exfoliation. It helps reduce hyperpigmentation by promoting the reduction of melanin-containing skin cells and stimulating new skin cell growth.

How to use it? (infographics and instructions)

Wash your face with a mild cleanser and pat your skin dry. Take a pea-sized amount of Melalite XL at night on your fingertip and apply it to the clean and dry affected area. Avoid contact of this triple combination cream with the eyes, nose, mouth, ears, or vagina. If the medications accidentally come into contact with these areas, rinse thoroughly with water.

Precautions (Things to remember, allergies, and warnings)

Please inform your dermatologist if you are hypersensitive to hydroquinone, mometasone, tretinoin, or other medications. Melasma cream is not recommended for children under twelve years of age. The cream can catch fire and burn easily, so avoid smoking or going near naked flames.
