US Brand Name | Hyzaar |
Strength | 50/12.50 mg |
Generic Name | Losartan Potassium + Hydrochlorothiazide |
Losacar H 12/50 mg is indicated for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). It combines two medicines, Losartan and Hydrochlorothiazide, which work together to lower blood pressure. Losacar H is not usually the first medicine to treat high blood pressure. Lowering blood pressure lowers the chance of stroke in patients with high blood pressure and heart problems.
You can take the Losacar H tablet before or after consuming food. The dose usually depends on your condition and your response to the medicine. Try to take it daily exactly as prescribed by your doctor. It is important to keep taking medicine until your doctor advises you not to. The medicine contains a diuretic and will make you pass more urine, so it is best to avoid taking this medicine within four hours of taking medicine. Take this medicine regularly to benefit from it even when you feel well. People with high blood pressure do not usually have symptoms, and if you stop taking it, your risk of stroke or heart attack may increase.
Losacar H is contraindicated in hypersensitive patients to any component of this product. Because of the hydrochlorothiazide component, Losacar H is contraindicated in patients with anuria or hypersensitivity to other sulfonamide-derived drugs. So not cop-administer aliskiren with Losartan/hydrochlorothiazide in patients with diabetes mellitus. Â
Tell your doctor about all your conditions, including if you:Â
  — Are you pregnant or planning to become pregnant  Â
  — Are breastfeeding. Losacar H can pass into your milk and may harm your baby
  — Have been vomiting, sweating a lot, having diarrhoea, or not having enough fluids Â
Â
Certain health conditions could cause you to have low blood pressure.
- Have asthma
- Have liver disease
- Have kidney problems
- Have gout
- Have diabetes
- Have any allergies
Â
Tell your doctor about all your medicines, including prescription and non-prescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements. Losacar H and certain other medicines may interact with each other. Especially inform your doctor if you are taking potassium supplements, water pills, lithium (a medicine to treat certain kinds of depression), Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), and other medicines to reduce blood pressure.  Â
The safety and effectiveness of Losacar H in pediatric patients have not been established.Â
The most common side effect associated with the use of Losacar H 12/50 mg is dizziness. Other side effects include nausea, headache, tiredness, diarrhoea, and decreased blood pressure. You may have frequent urination, but it is not a side effect of this medicine. It is the purpose of hydrochlorothiazide and thus helps control your blood pressure. You may experience other possible adverse effects, but most are rare. Make sure you read the prescription carefully and tell your doctor if you are bothered by side effects or if they do not go away. It may be possible to adjust your dose or try a different medicine under the supervision of a doctor.Â
