Levoflox 500 mg is an antibiotic medication containing Levofloxacin, which works by stopping the bacterial enzyme activity called DNA-gyrase. This prevents bacterial cells from dividing, thereby killing them. The active ingredient of the medicine is Levofloxacin which treats a variety of bacterial infections. It will not work for viral infections such as the common cold and flu. Levoflox 500 mg can cause a condition that affects the heart rhythm. People receiving antibiotic treatment may rarely experience a serious irregular heartbeat and other symptoms such as severe dizziness and fainting that immediate medical attention. Before using Levofloxacin 500 mg, tell your doctor if you have certain medical conditions, including slow heartbeat and heart failure. Low levels of magnesium and potassium in the bloodstream may affect the heart rhythm. The risk may increase if you take drugs such as diuretics or water pills or experience vomiting, diarrhea, and sweating. Discuss with your doctor how to use Levofloxacin 500 mg safely and effectively.
Diarrhea, nausea, dizziness, headache, trouble sleeping, or light-headedness may occur. If any of these side effects persist or get worse, inform your doctor straight away. Many people receiving this antibiotic therapy do not get side effects. The medicine rarely causes serious side effects, including kidney problems, liver disease, and unusual bleeding/bruising. Get immediate medical help straight away fast or irregular heartbeat, severe dizziness, signs of a tear in the main blood vessels called aorta (cough, breathlessness, and severe pain in the stomach/chest/back).
