Ketasma 1 mg is an asthma medication used to reduce the frequency, severity, and duration of asthma attacks in children. It contains the active ingredient ketotifen, which prevents asthma symptoms and reduces the daily requirement of asthma medicine. The active ingredient works by inhibiting the action of certain substances in the body responsible for causing inflammation and asthma symptoms.

Ketasma 1 mg helps to prevent asthma attacks. It is not effective at relieving an asthma attack that has already started. The medicine must be used continuously to be effective. You may take the medicine before or after consuming food. Also, continue taking the prescribed dosage of all your asthma medication until your doctor advises. For the treatment of asthma in adults and children three years of age and older, the usual dose is 1 mg tablet twice a day (once in the morning and once in the evening). For the treatment of infants and children six months to three years of age, the dose is based on body weight and is determined by your doctor.
Ketasma 1 mg may cause drowsiness in some people or make them less alert than they are normally. Therefore avoid driving or using machines that could be dangerous if you are dizzy or are not alert. Ketotifen may also cause some people to become excited and nervous and have difficulty sleeping. These symptoms are more likely to occur in children. Certain medications should not be used together as drug interaction may be dangerous. These include donepezil, amifampridine, pitolisant, and bupropion. Tobacco and alcohol consumption with certain medicines may also cause interaction. Â Â Â
Commonly reported side effects of Ketasma 1 mg include dark urine, convulsions, dizziness, abdominal pain, difficulty burning, rash, vomiting of blood, yellowing eyes or skin, sudden loss of consciousness, muscle spasms, clay-coloured stools, blistering, itching, peeling or redness of the skin, rash, frequent urge to urinate unpleasant breath, and abdominal pain.
Some minor side effects do not require immediate medical help. These side effects resolve during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. If they don’t resolve, your healthcare specialist will tell you ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Â
