Triamcinolone is the main active salt composition present in Kenacort injection.
Kenacort injection 40mg/1m is used to treat rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis.
- In the treatment of Rheumatoid arthritis:
Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune condition in which the immune system begins to attack the lining of your joints. This brings pain and swelling to the joints. Kenacort injection helps treat rheumatoid arthritis by making the immune system function normally and preventing it from attacking the body. This provides symptomatic relief, thus easing movement and allowing you to perform your daily activities more easily. Â Â
- In the treatment of osteoarthritis:
Kenacort injections provide relief from pain and swelling. It lessens stiffness in joints and allows easy movements.
You should continue receiving the treatment until your doctor asks you to stop. To get maximum benefits, use it under the supervision of a doctor.
Kenacort 40 mg/1 ml is available in the form of an injection. It should be given intramuscularly. Do not use this drug if it looks lumpy or grainy, discoloured, or if the bottle or vial looks frosted. Dosage requirements are available and must be individualized based on the condition under treatment and the patient's response. The lowest possible dose should be used to control the condition being treated.Â
 — For adults and children over 12 years of age - The recommended dose is 40 mg injected deeply into the muscle. Depending upon the patient's response, the doctor usually adjusts the dosage.
 — Hay fever or pollen asthma - Patients dealing with hay fever or pollen asthma who are not responding to pollen administration and other conventional treatments may obtain a remission of symptoms lasting throughout the pollen season after a single dose of 40 to 100 mg.
 — For children 6 to 12 years, the suggested initial dose is 40mg, although the dose depends more on the severity of symptoms than age and weight.
