Hytrin 2 mg is used to treat mild to moderate hypertension and symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia. It is also indicated for the treatment of symptomatic benign prostatic hyperplasia. Â Â
- In hypertension - Hytrin is employed in a general treatment program in combination with a thiazide diuretic and other hypertensive drugs as required for proper patient response. It can be used as a sole therapy for patients with other agents that cause inappropriate side effects. Terazosin hydrochloride functions by relaxing blood vessels so that blood flows through them more easily. This helps to reduce blood pressure.

- In benign prostatic hyperplasia - There is a rapid response, with approximately 70% of patients experiencing an increase in urine flow and improvement in symptoms of BPH when treated with Hytrin 2 mg. Symptoms of BPH include:

        — A weak or interrupted stream when urinating
        — A feeling of delay when you start to urinate
        — An urge to urinate often, especially at night
        — A feeling that you must urinate right away
        — A feeling that you can't empty your bladder completely

Increasing the tightness of a muscle in the prostate can cause these symptoms. Hytrin causes the relaxation of a certain type of muscle in the prostate and at the opening of the bladder. This may increase the urine flow or decrease the symptoms you are having. Terazosin helps to relieve the symptoms of BPH. It does not change the prostate gland's size, which may continue to grow. If the medicine works, you should notice the effect within 2 to 4 weeks. Even though you take Hytrin 2, which may help you, It may not prevent the need for surgery in the coming years. Â Â Â
Please read the prescription before you start taking Hytrin 2 mg tablets. Carefully follow the instructions given by your doctor. You should see an effect on your symptom in 2 to 4 weeks. If Hytrin administration is discontinued for several days, treatment should be reinstituted using the initial dosing regimen. Â
Before using Hytrin 2 mg, talk to your doctor if you have low blood pressure, liver problems, kidney impairment, pancreatic cancer, are using erectile dysfunction drugs, or are pregnant or nursing. During the treatment, you should not drive, operate heavy machinery, or do hazardous activities until you are used to eth effects of Terazosin. You should also avoid situations where injury could result from fainting. If you begin to feel dizzy, sit or lie down until you feel better. You should tell your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including herbal supplements and prescription and non-prescription drugs.
You should avoid PDE5 inhibitors such as sildenafil, tadalafil, and vardenafil due to the risk of developing hypoglycemia (low blood pressure). Administration of Verapamil to hypertensive patients may result in low blood pressure and rapid heartbeat. Do not take these medicines without your doctor's approval. Â Â
After the first dose, Hytrin 2 mg can cause a sudden blood pressure drop. You may feel dizzy, faint, or lightheaded, particularly when you get up from a sitting or a lying position. This is more likely to happen after you have taken the first dose of this medicine, but it can happen at any time while you are taking this medicine. Low blood pressure can also occur if you discontinue treatment and then restart treatment.
Other side effects include diarrhoea, constipation, headache, nasal congestion, urinary frequency, nausea, indigestion, libido decreased, drowsiness, dry mouth, back pain, and urinary incontinence primarily reported in postmenopausal women, weakness, or weight gain.
