Heximar B 15 gm ointment is applied topically to treat adult plaque psoriasis. Psoriasis happens as your skin cells are produced too quickly. This results in redness, scaling, and thickness of your skin. The topical formulation contains Calcipotriol and Betamethasone as the active ingredients. Calcipotriol brings the rate of skin cell growth back to its previous state, and Betamethasone works by reducing inflammation.Â
Use the Heximar B ointment once daily. It may be more convenient to use this medicine in the evening. Four weeks is the initial treatment period, but your doctor may choose a different one. Do not use more than 25 grams of the formulation in one day. If you are already using a calcipotriol-containing medicine, the total amount must not calcipotriol containing medicine exceed 15 grams a day. Â
Use only on psoriasis-affected skin and do not use on skin that is not affected with psoriasis. Squeeze a small amount of formulation onto a clean finger. Rub it gently onto your skin to cover the entire psoriasis-affected area until most of the medication has disappeared into the skin. Do not bandage, wrap, or cover the affected area.
Wash your hands after using the ointment. This will avoid spreading accidentally spreading ointment to other parts of the body (especially the face, eye, mouth, and scalp). Do not worry if some medicine accidentally gets on normal skin; wipe it off if it spreads too far. To achieve optimal effect, avoid taking a shower or bath immediately after applying the topical formulation. After applying the ointment, avoid contact with textiles easily sustained by grease (for example, silk).
Do not take Heximar B ointment if you are hypersensitive to calcipotriol, Betamethasone, or any other ingredients in this medicine. Avoid taking the medicine if you have problems with calcium levels. Do not take this medicine if you have certain types of psoriasis (erythrodermic, exfoliative and pustular). Â
This combination ointment is a steroid, so do not use it on skin affected by:
   –  Cold sores or chicken pox (infections caused by virus)
  –  Athlete’s foot or ringworm (skin infections caused by fungus)
  –  Tuberculosis
  –  Skin infections caused by bacteria
  –  Scabies (skin infections caused by parasites)
  –  Red rash around the mouth (perioral dermatitis)
  –  Rosacea
  –  Acne
  –  Ulcers or broken skin
  –  Thin skin, stretch marks, easily damaged veins
Heximar B ointment is not recommended for use in children below the age of 18 years. Â

Common side effects patients observe using Heximar B include itching and skin exfoliation. Rarely may patients experience worsening of psoriasis. If your psoriasis gets worse, speak to your doctor as soon as possible.Â
