Gravitor 60mg is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of myasthenia gravis (disease-causing muscle weakness and irritation). In the case of myasthenia crises where difficulty in breathing and swallowing is present, the parenteral form should be used. The patient can be switched to the oral form as soon as tolerated. For more information, please talk to your doctor. Gravitor 60 is available as a tablet containing the active ingredient Pyridostigmine, which improves muscle weakness. Â
The size and frequency of the dosage must be adjusted to the needs of the individual patient. The average dose is ten 60 mg tablets daily, spaced to provide maximum relief when maximum strength is needed. In severe cases, as many as 25 mg tablets a day may be required, while in mild cases, one to six tablets per day may suffice. Â Â
Gravitor 60 should be taken on an empty stomach, preferably at the same time. It is best to take medicine in the dose and duration as advised by the doctor. Gravitor should be swallowed whole. Do not crush or chew the tablet. However, in certain cases, the tablet can be cut in half, but tablets should not be crushed since this would destroy too much of the sustained release mix. Due to the slow-release mechanism of the tablet, the matrix may transfer through the intestinal system intact.
Gravitor 60 mg tablets are contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to anticholinergic agents. Because of the presence of the bromide ion, they should not be used in patients with a previous history of reaction to bromides. The medicine is also contraindicated in patients with peritonitis or mechanical intestinal or urinary tract obstruction. Pyridostigmine should be used with caution in patients with epilepsy, bradycardia, epilepsy, vagotonia, bronchial asthma, recent coronary occlusion, bradycardia, peptic ulcer, or cardiac arrhythmias. Extreme caution is required when administering to patients with obstructive respiratory diseases like bronchial asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Care should also be taken in patients with the following:
 — Hypotension
 — Hyperthyroidism
 — Epilepsy or parkinsonism
 — Peptic ulcer
 — Recent coronary occlusion
 — Patients who have undergone gastrointestinal surgery
The side effects of Gravitor are most related to overdosage. Therefore, it is possible to reduce the risk of side effects to a great extent by avoiding overdose. Some common side effects of using Gravitor 60 mg are nausea, blurred vision, abdominal pain, watery eyes, shortness of breath, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, and altered frequency of urination. Other side effects that may be seen with Pyridostigmine include sweating, runny nose, headache, and heartburn. It may also cause dizziness and sleepiness. So, avoid doing work that requires focus and attention.
