Fertomid 50 mg is used to treat ovulatory dysfunction (which means menses are irregular or absent) in women desiring pregnancy. It contains clomiphene citrate, an orally administered, nonsteroidal, ovulatory stimulant which treats infertility in women and helps them get pregnant. It is specially formulated for those women who do not ovulate. This includes those who are suffering from polycystic syndrome. Its long-term usage results in multiple ovulations and increases the chances of twins.
The recommended dose for the first course of Fertomid citrate is 50 mg daily for five days. Treatment may be initiated at any time in patients with no recent uterine bleeding. A patient needs a gynaecological examination before starting therapy. If progestin induced is planned, or if continuous uterine bleeding occurs before therapy, 50 mg daily for five days should be initiated on or about the fifth day of the menstrual cycle. There is no use in increasing the dose in subsequent treatment cycles when ovulation happens at this dosage. If ovulation appears not to have occurred after the course of therapy, the second course of 100 mg daily (two 50 mg tablets given as a single daily dose) for five days should be given.
The treatment may be started as early as thirty days after the previous one. Increasing the dosage or duration of treatment beyond 100mg per day for five days should not be undertaken. Treatment beyond this is not recommended in a patient who does not ovulate. Your doctor may examine cervical mucus to match the ovulation with artificial insemination. Long-term therapy because the safety of long-term treatment has not yet been conclusively demonstrated. Secondly, long-term-cyclic treatment is not suggested since many patients will ovulate following three courses. Â Â Â Â
Fertomid is contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to the active ingredient or any of the inactive ingredients in the medicine. It is not indicated during pregnancy. Clomiphene citrate tablets should not be given to patients with liver disease or a history of liver problems. It is contraindicated in patients with abnormal bleeding of undetermined cause. Fertomid tablets should not be administered in the presence of an ovarian cyst, except in a polycystic ovary, since the size of the cyst may increase. Clomiphene can’t be expected to substitute for specific treatment of other causes of ovulatory failures, such as hyperprolactinemia and thyroid or adrenal disorders.
There is an increased chance of multiple pregnancies when conception occurs concerning clomiphene tablets, notably intrauterine and extrauterine pregnancies. Therefore, it is important to discuss the complications of multiple pregnancies with eth patient. There is an increased chance of ectopic pregnancy in women who conceive Fertomid tablets.Â
The more commonly reported side effects include ovarian enlargement, abdominal pelvic discomfort, vasomotor flushes, visual symptoms, headache, nausea, vomiting, breast discomfort, and intermenstrual spotting or menorrhagia. Other rare side effects associated with the use of Fertomid include weight gain, digestive intolerance, pancreatitis, tachycardia, palpitations, eye disorders (blurred vision, spots or flashes, cataract, optical neuritis,  and worsening of hormonal or hormone-dependent tumours. Report side effects that become bothersome or persist for a longer duration.
