Famocid 20mg is also used to treat conditions characterized by plenty of acid production in the stomach. It is generally administered to people who suffer from gastro-oesophagal reflux disease or GERD and other conditions where the stomach acid flows into the esophagus and leads to heartburn. The medicine may also be used for several other conditions that are not mentioned here. Your doctor may advise you to follow some diet restrictions along with the medicine. Including a proper diet is the key to the effectiveness of the drug. It may take up to 8 weeks for the medicine to heal the ulcers. It is best to take the medication as directed for the best results. The medicine contains the active ingredient Famotidine, which is a histamine-2 blocker medicine. It belongs to the histamine-2 blocker family of drugs. It works by reducing the natural acid production in the stomach. It is used to decrease acid and thereby is used to treat and prevent intestinal and stomach ulcers.

Some common side effects of Famocid 20 mg include vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, joint pain, muscle cramps, diarrhea, dizziness, nausea, constipation, headache, and dry mouth.
