Empamore 25 mg is used in conjunction with diet and exercise to achieve glycaemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes. It is especially recommended for those whose blood sugar cannot be controlled by diet and exercise alone. The anti-diabetes medicine can be used without other medicines in patients whose treatment with metformin is not suitable. It can be taken with other medicines, including oral or insulin, administered via injection. The medicine contains the active ingredient Empagliflozin, which inhibits the action of the SGLT2 protein. SGLT2 is a sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 that is believed to stop the excretion of glucose in urine by absorbing glucose into the blood as blood is filtered in the kidney. Through SGLT2 inhibition, this antidiabetic agent lowers the renal absorption of sugar (glucose) and increases urinary glucose excretion.Â
By controlling blood sugar, Empamore causes a reduction in the risk of heart-related death and hospitalization of adults with heart failure. It also reduces the risk of end-stage kidney problems and hospitalization in adults with chronic renal insufficiency that is associated with the risk of progression. Antidiabetic medicine is not meant to be used in patients with type 1 diabetes.
How to use an Empagliflozin?
Use Emapmore 25 mg, as your doctor suggests, to achieve the desired results. Typically, treatment is initiated at a dose of 10 mg once daily. Your doctor will decide whether to increase the dose to 25 mg once a day or not. You may receive the best strength that is appropriate for you. In the case of a kidney disorder, generally, the dose may be limited to 10 mg once a day. Empagliflozin is supplied in the form of a tablet that needs to be swallowed with an adequate amount of water. One can take the pill without regard to food.
You may be prescribed Empamore along with another antidiabetic agent. So, it is important to take all the medicines as prescribed to achieve control over your blood sugar levels. Diet and exercise can support your body in utilizing blood glucose more effectively. Doctors recommend sticking to a diet and exercising during the entire treatment. It is not wise to discontinue treatment without your doctor’s permission. An increase in blood sugar was reported upon stopping the medication.
For pediatric use, it is important to consult with a pediatrician before giving this diabetes medicine to children.
Precaution with Empagliflozin
Empamore should not be taken if you have a history of hypersensitivity to Empagliflozin or other medicine ingredients. Pregnant women should not take this medication. It is still not known if the medication is harmful to the unborn baby. Also, avoid using the medicine if you are a breastfeeding mother. There is no evidence to show if the diabetes medicine passes into human breast milk. Â
Consult your healthcare provider before starting this diabetes medication and during your treatment if:
    ‒   You have type 1 diabetes. This usually begins at a young age when the body cannot produce insulin.
   ‒   You have a serious kidney disorder. Your doctor may advise you to switch to another medicine.
   ‒   You feel sick, have excessive thirst, confusion, fast and deep breathing, unusual sleepiness or tiredness, experience rapid weight loss, a sweet or metallic taste in your mouth, a sweet smell to your breath, a different odor of your urine or sweat.
   ‒   You are sick, have a fever or diarrhea, or cannot eat or drink.
   ‒   You are 75 years of age or above, increased urination due to the consumption of Empamore may disturb the fluid balance in your body and increase the risk of dehydration.
   ‒   You are above 85 years of age or older, you should not take Empagliflozin.
   ‒   You develop a serious renal infection or an infection of the urinary tract accompanied by fever. Your doctor may ask you to stop the medication right away until you have recovered.
Empamore 25 mg can cause ketones to accumulate in your bloodstream, making your blood acidic. The condition is often referred to as ketoacidosis. The risk is higher in case of dehydration, diarrhea, or insufficient carbohydrates.
Side effects of Empagliflozin
Contact your doctor immediately if you develop low blood sugar, urinary tract infection, or dehydration. Other common side effects while taking Empamore are itching, constipation, thirst, passing more urine than usual or urinating more often, rash or red skin, constipation, and increased cholesterol levels.Â
Some rare and uncommon side effects include straining or pain when emptying the bladder, decreased kidney function, and increased red blood cells in your bloodstream.
