Eflornithine Hydrochloride is the primary active ingredient present in Eflora Cream. This cream has been included in the list of most essential medicines by the WHO (World Health Organization). It is one of the creams used for tropical treatment in females affected by facial hirsutism.
Eflora is prescribed to stop and slow down the growth of unwanted hair on the face in the female. A combination of Eflora and another medication has recently been approved to treat sleeping sickness. It provides a great deal of resistance from the trypanosoma that is the source of the sleeping sickness.
Eflornithine Hydrochloride is an irreversible inhibitor of a natural substance that stimulates hair growth. This medicine actively blocks the working of the enzyme Ornithine decarboxylase and inhibits the binding site of Ornithine. This, in turn, blocks the synthesis of polyamines, thereby controlling the cell division rate and directly affecting the hair growth rate.
Squeeze a small amount of this cream onto your fingertips and apply it to the affected area. Always read the instructions on the medicine packaging for correct application. Eflora 15 gm drug comes in topical formulation form and hence can be easily applied on the face and chin after washing a face with a mild soap-based solution. Pat dry your face and squeeze a sufficient cream amount on your fingertips. Gently mix the cream on your skin till it gets absorbed. Do not use it on other body parts, such as the armpits.
