Ciplox is containing Ciprofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic medicine used to treat a wide range of infections caused by bacteria. Your doctor may prescribe this antibiotic medication to treat infection of the urinary tract, lower respiratory tract, chronic prostate infection, skin infection, sinus infection, bone and joint infection, infectious diarrhea, typhoid fever, intra-abdominal infection, nosocomial pneumonia, cervical and urethral gonorrhea, inhalational anthrax, and plague. Sometimes, infections are caused by viruses and not by bacteria, especially those of sinuses and lungs (common cold and flu).
Follow your doctor’s instructions when it comes to taking Ciplox 500 mg for treating bacterial infections. After analysing your health condition and other factors, your doctor will decide the correct dosage for you. Drink plenty of fluids during the treatment. You may take the tablet before or after consuming food. Do not skip doses or stop taking the medication even if you feel better.
Do not take Ciplox 500 mg if you have ever had a severe allergic reaction to an antibiotic known as a fluoroquinolone or are allergic to other inactive medicine ingredients. Discuss with your doctor if you are unsure how much and for how long you need to take the drug. Avoid taking Ciprofloxacin if you take a medicine called Tizanidine. There is an increased risk of developing serious side effects associated with Tizanidine. Tell your doctor of all your medical conditions, including if you have central nervous system problems, tendon problems, kidney disease, rheumatoid arthritis, trouble swallowing pills, or irregular heartbeat. Your doctor should also be aware of your pregnancy status, or you breastfeed. Talk to your doctor about all the medicines you take, including those you obtained over the counter. Ciplox and other medicines can affect each other, causing serious health complications. Especially tell your doctor if you take a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, a blood thinner, theophylline, anti-psychotic drugs, water pills, steroid medicines, methotrexate, metoclopramide, probenecid, antiarrhythmics, and antidepressants.
Children less than 18 years of age are at increased risk of developing musculoskeletal problems such as pain or swelling while receiving Ciplox tablets. Antibiotics, including Ciprofloxacin, do not kill viruses. Call your doctor straight away if you think your condition is getting worse while receiving the antibiotic drug.
Ciplox 500 mg can cause side effects that may be serious or life-threatening for some users.
- Seizures - Seizures have been reported in people who take Ciprofloxacin. Tell your doctor straight away if you have a history of seizures. Discuss with your doctor whether taking this fluoroquinolone antibiotic will change your risk of seizures.
- Intestinal infection - Pseudomembranous colitis can occur in most patients who take antibiotics. Inform your doctor straight away if you develop water diarrhea, or bloody stools. You may experience stomach cramps and a fever.
- Low blood sugar - People who take Ciplox 500 mg and other fluoroquinolone antibiotics with diabetes medications can get severely low blood sugar levels.
