The disease is caused by the neurodegeneration and due to the aging also. Alzheimer’s disease is also known as simply Alzheimer’s and is a chronic disease. This disease progress slowly, but get worse with time and this disease occur at the elder age, but today in this world of pollution and unhealthy lifestyle, it can occur at any point of time.
This disorder most of the time leads to dementia and its can cause severe problems. The symptoms start with short term memory loss. Alzheimer’s disease is not normal and it’s not just the problem of aging, it’s a very serious problem and the Alzheimer’s symptoms can get worse over a number of years and they get so severe that sometimes the sufferer even forgets to do daily activities.
Alzheimer’s Causes:
There are no exact known causes of the disease, but there are some hypothesis, which describes the disease occurs. The Alzheimer’s disease is caused by genetic heritability and based on the research on twin and family studies, the chances of getting this disease are 49% to 79%. Sometimes concussion can also lead to appearing of Alzheimer disease. The traumatic brain injuries can also lead to the appearances of symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease. Smoking is a significant AD risk factor and can cause the appearance of the symptoms. Cardiovascular risk factors such as hypercholesterolemia, hypertension, diabetes and alcoholism, are associated with appearance and onset of Alzheimer’s disease.
Alzheimer’s Treatment
There are no permanent Alzheimer’s treatments, but there are some methods and Alzheimer’s medications which can prevent the disease from getting worse and can reduce the symptoms also. There are many drug therapies which help in lowering the cholesterol and helps in preventing or improving the course of the disease. There are some famous drugs such as donepezil, galantamine, tacrine etc. which are used for the prevention of the disease and reducing the risk of appearance of the symptoms. There are various non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and they are associated with a reduced likelihood of developing Alzheimer’s disease. They are not used as treatment, but they can reduce the symptoms. There are hormone therapies which can help in preventing the disease, but they increase the risk of dementia. One of the reasons of occurrence of this disease is the unhealthy lifestyle so little bit of change in lifestyle can prevent this disease. So, engaging in the intellectual activities such as reading, playing board games, completing crossword puzzles, playing musical instruments or regular social interaction shows a reduction in the risk of Alzheimer’s disease. Following cholesterol free diet can also help in preventing this disease as it prevents hypertension and another cardiovascular disease. Following a healthy cholesterol free diet, Japanese, or Mediterranean diet can reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s disease and prevent worsening of the symptoms.
