Banocide Forte is a prescription used to treat worm infections and filariasis. Each tablet contains 100 mg of diethylcarbamazine citrate, a class of medications known as anthelmintic used to treat lymphatic filariasis.
Lymphatic filariasis impairs the lymphatic system and can lead to abnormal enlargement of body parts, causing pain and severe disability. Diethylcarbamazine paralyzes the parasitic worms and thus treats the infection. The medicine usually makes you feel better quickly. However, taking medicine as long as it is prescribed, even when you feel better, is important to ensure all the parasites are destroyed. Â
Banocide Forte may be given to children for the treatment of lymphatic filariasis. For best results, take medicine in the dose and duration your doctor advises. Swallow the tablet with a glass full of water. Do not chew, crush, or break the pill. Â
For treating lymphatic filariasis, it is considered that children may be given the same dose as adults. At the same time, doctors recommend that children under ten years of age be given half the usual adult dose.
Try not to miss doses and finish the complete curse of treatment even when you feel better. Do not take two doses to make up for the missed one. Follow your regular dosing regimen, or take the next doses as scheduled.
