Generic Name | Amantadine Hcl |
Amantrel 100 mg is indicated:
- To treat Parkinson's syndrome by improving muscle control and reducing shakiness, shuffling, and stiffness.
- In the treatment of shingles, to reduce pain. Shingles is an acute inflammation of the nerve ganglia with a skin rash often forming a girdle around the middle of the body.
- To treat or prevent influenza A infection.
The medicine's active ingredient is Amantadine HCL, a synthetic tricyclic amine with antiviral, antihyperalgesic and antiparkinsonian activities. It is used in treating the symptoms of infection caused by the influenza A virus and Parkinson’s disease.
You can take Amantadine capsules without regard to meals. Those patients taking these capsules for Parkinson’s disease should not discontinue it without consulting the doctor as discontinuation of the medicine can worsen your Parkinson symptoms and may cause severe neurological changes, such as delusions, agitation, hallucinations, etc. When you buy Amantrel 100 mg online, make a note of the administration instructions mentioned here. Also, follow the directions given by your doctor.
Amantadine HCL is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to the drug or any of the capsule’s components. Seizure activity may increase in patients with a history of epilepsy or other seizures. A patient receiving Amantadine HCl should be observed closely for possible increased seizure activity. While taking medicine, you may experience central nervous system effects or blurring of vision. You need to be careful against driving and working in conditions where motor coordination is important. Congestive heart failure (CHF) may develop while taking Amantadine. Patients with a history of peripheral edema and CHF should be monitored closely.
Let your doctor know if you or your loved one notices that you are developing urges or cravings to behave in ways that are unusual for you, and you are unable to resist the impulse to carry out certain activities that could be harmful to you and others. These are often called impulse control disorders and can include gambling, an abnormally high sex drive, excessive eating, or an increase in sexual feelings. Tell your doctor if you are taking any other medicines as they may interfere with Amantadine hydrochloride capsules. These include anticholinergics, anti-spasmodic, anti-psychotics, and diuretics.
Amantrel 100 mg can cause side effects like any other medicine, although not everybody who uses it gets them. Most of the side effects are mild and resolve after a few days of the treatment. If they are serious or last more than a few days, inform your doctor right away. Tell your doctor straight away if you develop symptoms such as fainting, convulsions, dizziness, or lightheadedness. Very common side effects are swollen ankles, red blotchy spots on the skin, loss of appetite, depression, tiredness, hallucinations, anxiety, constipation, sweating, feeling nervous, difficulty concentrating, nightmares, fast or irregular heartbeat. If any of these side effects worsen or you notice any unusual side effects, please talk to your doctor.
