Femilon 0.02+ 0.15 is a combination oral contraceptive pill containing two hormones: Desogestrel, also known as Progestin and Ethinyl Estradiol, also known as Estrogen. It works mainly by preventing the release of an egg (ovulation) during the menstrual cycle. It also makes vaginal fluid thicker to help prevent sperm from reaching an egg, thereby inhibiting fertilization. It also changes the lining of the uterus (womb) to prevent the attachment of a fertilized egg. Because of the small amounts of the active ingredients in the medicine, Femilon is considered a low combined birth control pill. With the use of Femilon, your periods may be lighter and shorter. Your period pains may become less severe or may completely resolve.
Femilon is a combined oral hormonal contraceptive, commonly known as a birth control pill, that has been prescribed to prevent you from getting pregnant. To prevent pregnancy, always take medications exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Check with your doctor if you are not sure. Oral contraceptives are an effective method of birth control. When taken correctly, the chance of becoming pregnant becomes very low.
You should not use Femilon if you have any medical condition. Let your doctor know if you develop  any of the following conditions:
- If you have a disease affecting your blood clotting  Â
Tell your doctor if you have recently used or might use any other medicines or herbal products Â
If you just had a baby, talk to your doctor for advice about contraception. If you are sick or have diarrhoea, your body may not get the usual dose of hormones from the pill. If you vomit within 3 to 4 hours after taking the oral contraceptive, consider it a missed pill. You must talk to your doctor about a missed pill. If you have severe diarrhoea for more than twelve hours after taking Femilon, follow the instructions if it's been more than twelve hours.
Like all medicines, Femilon can cause side effects, although not everyone who uses it gets them. If you get any side effects, particularly if severe or persistent, or have any changes to your overall health that you think may be due to your oral contraceptive, please speak to your doctor.
Contact your doctor immediately if you experience symptoms of angioedema: swollen face/tongue/throat and difficulty swallowing or hive with difficulty breathing. See a doctor immediately if you think you have any of the above. You may need to stop taking Femilon tablets. Make an appointment with your doctor if you experience breakthrough bleeding.
Common side effects of this oral contraceptive are:
