Estradiol is the main active pharmaceutical ingredient present in Progynova tablets. Estradiol is an estrogen, a female hormone that is produced by the ovaries. It is used as a hormone replacement therapy (HRT) by women that help in reducing the symptoms of menopause, such as hot flashes and vaginal dryness and itchiness; these symptoms occur due to the less estrogen produced by the body. Progynova 1 mg is used to resist these symptoms and prevent bone loss. This medicine is also used to prevent osteoporosis, replace estrogen in women with ovarian failure, or as part of a breast cancer treatment regimen.

Some common side effects that can occur are:
Changes in menstrual bleeding, mood changes, decreased sex drive, acne, breast tenderness, hives, ectopic pregnancy, and nausea. Some rare side effects may include shortness of breath, blurred vision, hair loss, cysts in the ovary, painful menstrual cycle, migraine, vaginal discharge, and burning sensation.
   — Don’t take Progynova if you are allergic to its ingredients.
   — Using estrogen-alone may increase the chances of other health issues; check with your doctor about this.
   — Mention all medication or health treatment you are taking to your doctor, such as liver and kidney problems, including dialysis treatment, jaundice, TB, asthma, diabetes, migraine, heart issues, mental disorders or thrombosis. It is advised to take this drug only after consulting a doctor.
   — This drug is unsuitable for women with a history of breast nodules, fibrocystic disease of the breast, an abnormal breast x-ray or mammogram, or irregular or scanty menstrual periods. Consult your doctor before taking this medication.
   — Don’t forget to mention your doctor if you are undergoing any surgery.
   — Use this drug with caution in elderly patients, as older adults may be more sensitive to the side effects of this drug.

   — This drug should not be used in patients with known or suspected hypersensitivity to any ingredients present in the formulation
   — This drug should not be used in pregnant and lactating women
   — A patient who is suffering from unexplained abnormal vaginal bleeding
   — Do not use this medication if you have a smoking habit
   — This medicine should not be used in patients with the highest risk of venous or arterial thrombosis diseases
   — This drug should not be given to those women who are suffering from uncontrolled high blood pressure, heart disease, a blood clotting disorder
   — This medication is contraindicated for male patients

   — The drugs that can alter the pharmacological effect of Estradiol are abiraterone acetate, amiodarone, anastrozole, aripiprazole, ascorbic acid, atorvastatin etc.
