Adiff gel 1% is a topical gel indicated for treating acne vulgaris in patients twelve and older. Acne is a skin condition characterized by whiteheads, blackheads, and pimples on the face, chest, or back. Adiff contains the active ingredient Adapalene, which belongs to the medications known as retinoids. The topical ingredient works against the abnormal skin processes associated with acne vulgaris.

How to use it? (infographics and instructions)

Apply a thin layer of Adiff gel all over the affected skin area once daily at night. A pea-sized amount is sufficient to cover the acne-prone skin. Here are the usage instructions:

     –    Cleanse the acne-prone skin with a mild soap or cleanser.

     –    After rinsing thoroughly, pat your skin dry.

     –    Apply a thin layer of gel all over the affected area. Let the gel dry on your skin.

     –    Avoid washing your face after applying Adapalene gel. Also, you may be advised not to touch the treated area.

Do not use oil-based makeup while receiving retinoid treatment. Cosmetic items with drying action may cause excessive dryness. Avoid applying to the eyes, lips, mouth, or mucous membranes. Continue using the medicine as long as your healthcare provider advises you. With regular application, you will notice that pimples and dark spots will reduce. It may take up to 4 to 8 weeks to notice a significant improvement in the skin.

Precautions (Things to remember, allergies, and warnings)

     –    Do not use Adiff gel 1 % if you have a history of hypersensitivity to Adapalene or any other retinoid formulation. Symptoms of an allergic reaction may include wheezing, difficulty breathing, rash, itching or hives on the skin, and swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or other parts of the body.

     –    Before using it, inform your healthcare specialist if you:

     –    Have allergies to other medicines, foods, preservatives, or dyes.

     –    Have other skin diseases such as eczema, seborrhoeic dermatitis

     –    Have cuts or sunburn

     –    Like most topical retinoids, Adiff should not be used during pregnancy. Your dermatologist will discuss the risks and benefits if the topical treatment is necessary. If an unexpected pregnancy occurs, immediately discontinue treatment.

     –    Do not apply Adiff gel to treat other skin conditions unless your healthcare specialist advises. If you accidentally apply it to any of these areas, rinse immediately with water.

     –    Reduce sun exposure. Protect your skin whenever you step out in the sun, wear protective clothing, and use a good quality sunscreen lotion.

     –    Also, tell your dermatologist if you are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed. If you are breastfeeding, you may or may not use Adiff gel. It is still not known if the topical retinoid passes into breast milk. Avoid applying the gel to your breasts to avoid infant exposure to the gel.

     –    It is unknown if Adiff gel 1% is effective in people 65 and older.

     –    Avoid using topical cream/gel/lotion while using Adiff gel.
